Hey community! You might already know this, but, I have the best job. I get to spend each day actively working to build a better world. When I’m making a spreadsheet, running a meeting, answering an e-mail, or creating a better world, I always know that every moment, every ounce of energy, is directly impacting the lives of others. I know that I am contributing to building a shared society based on mutual trust, respect, understanding, empathy, and real relationships, in Israel, a place that I feel connected to and responsible for as a Jewish person.
My work of tikun olam (repairing the world) is centered in that complicated and beautiful place which is so important and central to both my people, and my Palestinian brothers and sisters (and of course many others as well).
The work of building a shared society, where everyone can participate equally, live with equity, and where all peoples experience personal and collective self-determination, is often challenging. In those moments of struggle, I remember the partners I have made through my work in Heart to Heart. The way their words, feelings, and experiences, have shaped me. I remember the conversations I’ve had with our youth participants about how their time in Heart to Heart has shaped their thoughts, feelings, choices, and future aspirations. In remembering those interactions, I know that I am doing the absolute best thing I could be with my time. Because what I am doing impacts real people. And it is through the dedication and effort of those very real people that we will create very real change.
But this work doesn’t just magically happen. It happens because we have a community of support who dedicate time, energy and resources to make it happen. And so, I am asking you to join that community of support today, for the first or hundredth time, to help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 by June 21st, in just 2 days’ time.
The dollars you give, whether 1, 100 or 10,000, will impact our 2017 participants’ ability to not only have a life changing experience in just 2 weeks when they land in Canada, but to keep us on the path of building our alumni program so that the impact of their experiences this summer can be maintained, extended, and amplified.
So please, join me and everyone who has already generously contributed (thank you!), in giving what you can, and in sharing this post as widely as possible, and let’s hit that $10,000 together.
Thank you,
Jenny, Director of Heart to Heart
