Summer Program Co-Facilitator

Heart to Heart is a leadership program for Palestinian and Jewish citizens of Israel. We are dedicated to empowering young adults with the tools and skills they need to create a more inclusive, peaceful, and just society.
Purpose and Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Arabic speaking facilitator to co-facilitate a dialogue and solidarity workshop for Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel (approx. ages 20–30) taking place in Ontario, Canada from August 19 to September 4, 2026. This contract runs from May through October 2026 and includes part-time preparation (5–10 hours/week), a full-time on-site facilitation period during the program, and post-program follow-up work.
Job Overview:
The Summer Co-Faciliator will help design and facilitate the Heart to Heart summer workshop, which is run in collaboration with Tel Aviv University. The program will bring a group of 18 Tel Aviv University (TAU) students (half Jewish citizens of Israel, half Arab Palestinian citizens of Israel) along with 2 TAU staff for a two week Heart to Heart retreat in Canada from (approx) August 19th - Sept 4th, 2026 after completing a semester-long academic program. The Summer Co-Facilitator will be responsible for all aspects of the retreat including planning, logistics, and implementation under the direction and support of the Program Director (who will also serve as a Co-Facilitator) and Executive Director.
Program Description
The Leadership and Solidarity program is a two week intensive workshop held at Camp Shomria in Perth, Ontario, a picturesque Jewish overnight camp set on the shores of a lake in rural Eastern Ontario. Participants arrive at camp after completing a semester-long multi-disciplinary academic course at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Social Sciences focused on the conflict.
The program includes nine days at camp featuring intensive facilitated dialogue and skills-based workshops complemented by nature-based and recreational activities such as canoeing and swimming. This is followed by three days in Toronto where participants meet with activists, educators, and community leaders, culminating in a community event with Heart to Heart supporters.

Candidate Profile

This role requires openness, flexibility, responsiveness, humility, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to working within the vision, values, and methodologies of Heart to Heart. The Program Facilitator must be able to navigate complexity with care, build trust across difference, and model the spirit of shared leadership that the program seeks to cultivate.

- Previous experience facilitating dialogue groups
- Understanding of the unique identity and experience of 48 Arabs/Palestinian citizens of Israel
- Strong Arabic language skills
- Functional or strong oral Hebrew language skills (comprehension and speaking)
- Comfortable working with googledrive (googledocs, spreadsheets, etc.) and whatsapp

- Contribute to the design and planning of a 12 day retreat in Canada in accordance with Heart to Heart project goals, vision, and methodology
- Facilitate and co-facilitate programming
- Arrange program materials and supplies

- Support program evaluation design and implementation as needed
Logistics, Planning and Communications
- Support logistical planning for the retreat, including participant and staff travel coordination, form dissemination and collection, accommodations, transportation, scheduling, and on-site logistics
- Work with Camp Shomria staff on all matters related to site use (eg. Arrival and departure, accommodations, staffing, meals, etc.)
- Support pre-trip preparation, including coordinating and participating in meetings with the student cohort and partners in Israel prior to travel
- Assist in planning and executing the community-facing event during the retreat in Toronto
Health and Safety
- Facilitate the program according to health and safety policies as set out by Heart to Heart and/or Camp Shomria
Hours and Compensation
- This contract runs from May through the end of September 2026. It will require approximately 5–10 hours per week from May through mid-August, followed by an intensive full-time, on-site commitment from August 19 to September 4, 2026, and then a return to approximately 5–10 hours per week for the remainder of September following the intensive program.
- From August 19 to September 4, 2026, the position will shift to full-time, on-site work to support the intensive summer workshop. While the retreat is demanding, scheduled breaks will be built into the program.
- Participation in a staff debrief after the conclusion of the program is required. This will be scheduled according to the availability of staff members and will take place no later than October 15th, 2026.
- Transportation to the program will be covered by Heart to Heart (ground transportation and flight if relevant).
- Accommodation during the program period will be fully covered by Heart to Heart.
- The salary for this contract is $11,000 CAD for all work as outlined above. (Approx $8,000 USD subject to exchange rate.)
